Naughty wives and happy endings

I don’t think that naughty wives, romance, and happy endings are mutually exclusive. Anyone who’s read my books shouldn’t be surprised by this, but I think there’s a wide enough array of opinion that it bears putting my own out there.

For me, the niche genre of wife-sharing, or whatever you want to call it, is all about the couple. That relationship between husband and wife is the main character, and like any character, it can either grow better from experience, or worse. Maybe it’s the optimism that I carry through life, but I will always go for growth.

There’s a strong societal sense to turn these extramarital adventures into morality tales. Sometimes they can take the form of “torch the bitch” stories of vengeance. Other times, the judgment is more subtle–a close call tale where the couple remains intact, despite the sordid misadventure. In these stories, the couple experiment with something out-of-bounds, have fun at first, then experience a dramatic turn in the third act, escape with a few bumps and bruises, and then think, Let’s never do that again.

While I can reassure you that I don’t write from a formula, you will probably not find me writing either of the two types of story arcs above. That’s not to say that I’d just slap a happy ending onto a story about a doomed relationship–sometimes those happy endings are really challenging to arrive at–but when you start treating the marriage like an evolving thing, it gets easier.

If you’re liking the idea of a “naughty” wife story that shows growth and love between husband and wife, but haven’t read any of my books, then here are three that I’d suggest (plus a bonus from a fellow author, Kirsten McCurran).

Dean and Danielle have been playing their game for the past year now: they’d enter a bar as strangers and see what happens. Sometimes, Dean “picked” her up. Other times, he sat back and watched her flirt with other men. And every time, they ended the night together, their passion rekindled.

Jealousy and excitement warred within Dean, but the thrill was becoming too great to ignore. For Danielle, the game had awoken feelings within her she thought long buried–feelings that scared as much as they excited.

Then came the Hawaii trip. Hundreds of miles from home, was this the opportunity to take things further than they’d ever dared? When Sandy approached Danielle at the swanky bar/lounge, full of surfer-swagger and sun-kissed good looks, the answer was clear.

While Just Watch Me follows characters from the short story Rediscovering Danielle, it’s written as a stand alone tale, not a sequel. Dean and Danielle need no introduction. Just be prepared for a wild ride.

leap-romanceLeap

On February 29, a day that comes just once every four years, Jack Carter announces that, “What happens on Leap Day stays on Leap Day.” His wife Sarah knows he’s up to something, and when he explains that today is a day to take risks and get a little crazy, she grasps what it is: he wants to watch her with another man.

Jack had the fantasy first; and at first, Sarah didn’t understand it. Hell, neither did Jack. All he knew was that the thought of his wife in the arms of another man was exciting; the build-up, the flirtation, the act, even his nauseous jealousy always got him hard. Sarah didn’t deny her own arousal, especially when her coworker, David, began taking the role of imagined lover. He was fit, hot, and most importantly, he was attracted to her.

Neither Jack nor Sarah ever thought they’d take the plunge from reality to fantasy. It was too risky. Too crazy. With February 29 just beginning, will it be the day they finally make the leap?

Leap is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.
